worry and resolutions:
as you may know, if you visit us, i’ve been a bit stressed about homeschooling as of late. however, after a good talk with my lovely friend heather (an awesome HS mama) and hearing from you wise HS gals here, lots of time praying, thinking and talking with hubs i’m all better; reassured and good.
decisions:
the next steps for our little school was deciding whether or not to go full on with my father’s world curriculum and make the big buy plunge, so to speak, purchase something new or hodgepodge the next season of our homeschool. so after reading endless amounts of reviews and websites i decided not to keep going with MFW but to continue with Montessori methods full on. fortunately every bit of the MFW manipulatives and books I’d purchased work for Montessori inspired activities, extension work and productive play just fine. woohoo!
looking back:
the change is not so big. but the decision definitely was a big one for me. you can see our curriculum in the late summer/ fall in 2011 here.
i will finish this book and keep it for a resource. it is lovely.
and i have enjoyed the free printables and tot packs that i found here and here. the only change being made concerning these being the order in which the letters and letter activities are introduced to the kids, easy. no biggie.
having fully committed to preschool and kindergarten the Montessori way i did make this purchase for the new season.

“We show you how to use what you have at home to create a fulfilling and exciting learning environment for your children. Teachers and daycare providers will also find this material amazingly useful for creating a Montessori classroom curriculum on a budget in a traditional classroom setting or in a home-based setup.”
and this for our bible study time:
i will be making many of the items we need for Montessori work and am happy to have a Montessori school in town to visit. I’m also excited to start from scratch in the new home when creating prepared environments for the kiddos.again, so much gratitude for the much-needed support from friends, you know who you are! i can hardly wait to get moved and back to school.
it’s a new year folks. can you believe it?
peace and good wishes to you and yours!
Update 1: 10 Jan
a lovely new resource-> if i were better about correspondence i would have seen this ages ago. i looked it over and really like it. can see us pulling from there often. there is a link on the sidebar too. thanks Emily for the info.
i received the workbook and bible above and after looking through them i am very happy with them both! we move in one week and as soon as we get somewhat settled we’ll start school again. the kids have been asking for school time everyday. i’ve been keeping them busy with homemade play dough that skye brought home from a b-day party a while back (thanks lisanne for that!) and all the coloring and preschool workbooks the kids received from family for Christmas.
